Delete your Just Zilch account and data

This page explains how to delete your Just Zilch account and the data linked to it, and what is kept. The Privacy Policy has the full picture.

What data exists

Solo and bot games need no account. When you open Play versus players or Settings, or choose a player name, the app creates an anonymous sign-in: a random user ID from Firebase Authentication, with no name or email address attached.

When you choose a player name to post or accept a challenge, the app stores a player profile (your name and your win, loss and streak record) and the challenges and matches you play, including each turn's moves. If you sign in with Google, the sign-in record also holds that Google account's name, email address, account ID and the link to its profile picture, and your statistics and settings are backed up to your account.

Delete it in the app

  1. Open Just Zilch.
  2. Tap the gear (Settings).
  3. Under Your data, tap Delete account & data.
  4. Tap Delete everything to confirm.

From version 3.16 the app first forfeits your ongoing matches, then deletes the turn-by-turn moves of all your matches, your matches against the bots (a match against another player stays with them, anonymised: see what is kept below), every challenge you posted or accepted, your cloud backup, the app's internal records about you, your player profile and, last, your sign-in record. Then it wipes the app's data on your phone and signs you out. If you signed in with Google, the app may ask you to choose your Google account once more before it deletes anything. If any part cannot be deleted, the app says what is still stored and keeps you signed in, so you can tap Delete again. A Remove ads purchase comes back with Restore purchase.

Your data appears once you have chosen a player name or signed in with Google (in versions before 3.15 the section is called Account & data), and deleting needs an internet connection. Versions before 3.16 delete less: your profile, your cloud backup, up to 10 open challenges and, when Firebase allows it, your sign-in record, but not your matches, their turn records or the app's internal records. Update the app first, or email us. If you never chose a player name or signed in with Google, there is no profile to delete: clear the app's storage or uninstall it, and email us if you also want the anonymous sign-in removed.

Ask us by email

Email appsbyabyteofeverything@gmail.com with the subject “Just Zilch account deletion”. Send it from the Google account you linked, if you linked one, and include your player name so we can find your account. The developer handles these requests by hand and answers within one month.

Use email if you no longer have the app or cannot use the in-app option.

What is deleted

This is what version 3.16 and later delete; the note above says what earlier versions leave.

What is kept

Data on your phone

Clearing the app's storage in Android settings (usually Settings → Apps → Just Zilch → Storage → Clear data; the names vary by phone) or uninstalling the app removes everything the app keeps on your device.
